Unlike some registries, EURid, the .EU registry does not provide domain users with a grace period to renew their domains at the normal renewal rate.
If your domain is not renewed prior to expiration, it is sent to quarantine by the registry. A recovery fee and manual recovery by our customer service team are required in order to recover the domain.
